From about age 12 to 19 I was a skateboarder, in my more honest moments I’ll even admit, not particularly good one though ya boy had a mean tre flip. Skating was all I cared about in high school but as life moved I fell out of it as my friends got jobs and went to school. Over the years I would check in on my favorite skaters, think about trying to skate again, end up somewhere with a board and see if I could still do a kickflip; which last checked at the Goose Jam I landed it first try in the dirt aaaaaye!
During one of those check ins on IG I happened to see that a skate jam was going down at Goose Gossage which is a skate park I used to warm up at every day after school with my boy John. At the time I lived pretty close and I decided I should go hang out and document the experience. I had a ton of fun, the action sequences mostly shot on Fuji X-H1 and the portraits and BTS with my Leica M240.
I still enjoy looking at the work from that day and it feels like a bit more of a complete collection of work than some of my other “projects” This was me truly shooting for me. Shout out the skaters of Colorado Springs for allowing me to do so.
